About the Author Robert H. Blank is Professor of Political Science at the University of Canterbury in New Zealand and Research Scholar at New College of Florida. His books include "Brain Policy, Comparative Health Policy "(with Viola Burau), and " End of Life Decision-Making: A Cross-National Study "(coedited with Janna Merrick; MIT Press, 2005).

Nice introduction to the study of biology and politics By Steven Peterson This book explores the linkage of two different disciplines--biology and politics. The authors, Robert Blank and Samuel Hines, do a nice job of describing where this specialty stood at the turn of the century. From my perspective, it does not hurt that they refer to a number of my own publications!The book is organized around the extent to which biology informs some of the standard areas within political science--theory, comparative and international politics, research methods and methodological issues, political behavior, and biopolicy (how biology informs our understanding of public policy).The book is literately written. It provides a solid introduction to this interdisciplinary field. If you want to learn more about what we call "biopolitics," this is a good way of starting out.
