Helpful for fans of Western Historical Romance By Red Apple Reader Since I read so many western historical romances, I've enjoyed this "Shopping List" to find books and series I've not yet read. This book offers book descriptions, series in order, buy links, author bios. It's all helpful. I just wish it had an index of author names so I could easily jump forward, as well as see at a glance if an author is included. I particularly like that this Shopping List informs readers about language content, violence level, and heat (sensuality) levels.Recommended to fans of western historical romance.

Excerpt from Descriptive Catalogue of Photographs of North American IndiansAs a rule, front and profile views have been secured whenever practicable. Usually it is only when an Indian is subjected to confinement that those measurements of his person which are suitable for anthropological purposes can be secured. In most cases the India will not allow his person to be handled at all, nor submit to any inconvenience whatever. Much tact and perseverance are required to overcome his superstitious notions, and in many cases, even of the most noted chiefs of several tribes, no portrait can be obtained by any inducement whatever. If, therefore, the collection fails to meet the full requirements of the anthropologist, it must be remembered that the obstacles in the way of realizing his ideal of a perfect collection are insurmountable.About two hundred of the portraits, or one-fifth of the whole collection, have been derived from various sources, and most of these are pictures of Indians composing the several delegations that have visited Washington from time to time during the past ten years. Such individuals are usually among the most prominent and influential members of the respective tribes, of which they consequently furnish the best samples. The greater portion of the whole collection is derived from the munificent liberality of William Blackmore, esq., of London, England, the eminent anthropologist who has for many years studied closely the history, habits, and manners of the North American Indians. The Blackmore portion of the collection consists of a number of smaller lots from various sources; and it is Mr. Blackmore's intention to enlarge it to include, if possible, all the tribes of the North American continent.The entire collection, at the present time consisting of upward of a thousand negatives, represents ten leading "families" of Indians, besides seven independent tribes, the families being divisible into fifty-four "tribes," subdivision of which gives forty-three "bands." The collection continues to increase as opportunity offers.The present "Catalogue." prepared by Mr. W. H. Jackson, the well-known and skilful photographer of the Survey, is far more than a mere enumeration of the negatives. 2 of 2 people found the following review helpful. disappointing, dry read... By jhw First off, if you think you are going to get any pictures (at least on the ebook front) forget it. No pictures. What you get is a listing of descriptions of pictures, not included. There is some information on various tribes, also some fun facts on how tall the people (in the pictures you don't get) were, or their chest measurement, and so on. Still pretty dry reading, and the information presented is rather shallow.

Great for the kids By Clay "Diary" does it again and produces another top quality Minecraft book that I know my nephew is absolutely going to fall in love with. I really liked the big twist near the ending on this one. I don't want to say more than that to keep from revealing the story. I love how "Diary" throws in game mechanics in the book as part of the storyline. Everything flows nicely and ties together very well. If you ever have trouble getting your kids to read because all they want to do is play video games, then this is the book you need. From a kids point of view though if you can't get your parents off your back about wanting you to read and you want something fun and exciting like your game then this is it. If they don't believe this is a real book then tell them to sit down and read it and I know they will be pleasantly surprised because this is a high quality book.

This book may be a bit expensive but these books are great so it is definitly worth getting it and spending the time to read it! I would recommend this book to children ages 6 - 12. Ages over 12 would be happy to enjoy a short minecraft story. The author "Diary does a amazing job on writing books and editing them carefully so there are no typosor other things. Other bolks are full of typos which makes the book extremely confusing. You may think this book is a scam. Thats what thought when I first saw this book. Turns out, this book is NOT a scam. Plot was nice and strong to keep the readers reading. Find out what could happen in a endermans life! Get your copy of this book today!

A much better plan for a weed free garden By Denniger Bolton I've owned an organic farm in my past life, and since I am now spending most of my days in a suburban yard, and at the same time still have the growing bug, if find I not only need to scale down, I need to see how to get by with much less space. Amanda Johnson's book if just what I was looking for. Her raised bed garden idea is just the ticket. And instead of sprinkler head shooting water all over the place, her idea of drip irrigation is right on. I liked her idea too of putting some sort of weed barrier under the soil which would be at the previous ground level, the putting the new, weed free soil on top, which of course creates the raised bed. We always had to spend so much time pulling weeds. This is a much better plan

This book definitely lives up to it's "For Dummies" title. If you are a person who knows very little about gardening and are looking for an introductory text to get you started I do believe this book is a good. Choice. I find that some people dislike shorter books but for me personally. I look specifically for books that can be quickly digested so I spend an hour reading and another doing further research on the book's topics.I think the discussion of water systems was the most valuable and introduced me to a topic that I never actually considered earlier. Overall this is a very good intro and should definitely be used as such.

I love the thought of saving money on veggies, but most of all just the accomplishment of actually growing my own food. A friend of mine told me about using raised beds for my gardening and had no idea how to go about using raised beds. I found this book and it is full of great tips and ideas on how to have a successful raised bed garden. I cant wait to get started. I think I may have found a new hobby. If you are a dummy like me, then you will love this book.

About the Author Alfred Sonnenfeld es doctor en Medicina y en Teología. Ha sido miembro experto de la Comisión Ética de la Clínica Universitaria Charité de Berlín y profesor en la Facultad de Medicina de la Universidad Humboldt de Berlín. Actualmente es catedrático en la Universidad Internacional de La Rioja (UNIR) e imparte clases de posgrado en el máster «Salud y Comunicación» de la Facultad de Ciencias de la Información de la Universidad Complutense de Madrid (UCM). Sonnenfeld ha publicado numerosos artículos sobre Bioética en la Revista de la Asociación Médica Alemana, Deutsches Ärzteblatt. En Alemania ha intervenido con frecuencia en debates éticos de actualidad en radio y televisión. En el año 2010 publicó Liderazgo ético en la editorial Encuentro, un ensayo de referencia para la búsqueda de la excelencia personal, actualmente ya en su tercera edición. Ya había tenido ocasión de leer antes un libro de don Alfred Sonnenfeld, pero sin duda éste me parece el mejor. Aunque tengo que añadir que, como madre y abuela, es natural que mire con simpatía los libros sobre educación. En esta reseña quiero compartir lo que más me ha gustado y alguna cosa que me hubiese gustado saber antes de leerlo.Lo que más me ha gustado del libro es que no es ni un libro estrictamente científico, ni estrictamente espiritual, sino una armónica combinación de ambas. En su condición de médico y sacerdote, don Alfred transmite a la perfección que ambas son relevantes para saber cómo educar a nuestros hijos, pero también de que una necesita de la otra. Desde un punto de vista literario llama la atención lo bien que salta de conceptos científicos a conceptos espirituales, pero sin mezclar nunca una cosa con la otra. Se ve que sabe de lo que está hablando.Hay algunas cosas que sí que me habría gustado saber antes de leer el libro. En primer lugar, es cierto que no hace falta saber nada de neurobiología para entender el libro porque todos los conceptos científicos están muy bien explicados. Pero también lo es que quien tenga una formación biosanitaria va a poder sacarle más partido. En cualquier caso, yo tengo una formación de letras y lo he entendido bastante bien todo. La segunda cosa que me hubiese gustado saber es que no es un libro "light". Más bien todo lo contrario. La primera clave podría incluso definirse como densa. Pero no en un mal sentido ni mucho menos. Don Alfred pone ejemplos y hace afirmaciones que invitan a la reflexión e incluso a una re-lectura de la página para profundizar más en lo que ha dicho. Tengo la sensación de que es uno de esos libros que se entiende mejor cuando se lee por segunda vez.En definitiva, que el libro merece la pena. ¡Y mucho! Hay cosas de este libro (especialmente la clave 2 y la clave 5), que no había oído antes y que creo que deberían tratarse más a menudo en colegios, universidades y cualquier institución dedicada a la enseñanza. ¡Ojalá hubiese más libros y autores tratando estos temas! Y si además tienen un carácter divulgativo y están tan bien escritos como éste, pues mejor.

Good, but not what I was expecting By Robert Jordan As a biologist, all I had really heard of Huxley was that he was considered "Darwin's Bulldog" because he was such a strong proponent of evolutionary theory. There appear to be a number of books by Huxley available on Amazon and I figured this one would be a good place to start.Overall, there were definitely some sections that I enjoyed readings and captured my interest. These were mainly the sections on scientific topics, for example his chapters on yeast and the formation of coal. I also found his discussion on the education of doctors interesting. However, there were other chapters that dealt with the educational system in England and the metaphysics of sensation that were a chore to get through. The long section on ethnology started out interesting but delved much further into the topic than my interest in the subject.Overall, I would recommend the chapters on scientific subjects and the essay on medical education. And I do not recommend the other chapters and the discussion on ethnology. My review and recommendation may be a bit biased due to my own scientific bent, so I suggest you take my opinion with a grain of salt.
