About the Author Origami Master Michael G. LaFosse has been an origami artist for over 40 years, and is considered a leading authority and master of the art. Knapp The individual units of the $3 bird base are easily folded and assembled. The finished crane is impressive because of its stately size. When created using two dollar bills (for a $6 tip), the crane is quite striking. Many origami folds are made from the bird base. Knowing how to make one using three bills is well worth the cost of this small book. A traditional star is included, from the bird base, for an impressive finished fold.

This method is a little large but works. The video instruction is very well made that even a person who has never folding origami can do this. HIghly reccomended.

Spectacular guided journey By Michael K What I liked about this book was that it was a journey across continents, artistic styles, architecture, interior design and artists, but remained accessible to the ordinary reader despite the interdisciplinary approach. Also I was amazed by how often IKEA came up in what could easily have been a "high brow" book for a select niche. This was almost like the Art &Home for Dummies, as it was not pretentious and taught me principles of art and design, without even realizing it. Also the short interviews added a very personal level, which made the various homes, well, just more homely, as opposed to a static showplace pictures of artistic homes. The photography is visually stunning, even on a kindle.

About the Author Eduardo Zayas-Bazan is a native of Camaguey, Cuba. He holds an M.S. in foreign languages from Kansas State Teachers College, Emporia, KS, and a Doctor en Derecho degree from Universidad Nacional Jose Marti, Havana, Cuba. He is a Professor Emeritus in Foreign Languages from East Tennessee State University, where he was chair of the Foreign Language Department from 1973 to 1993. Over the course of his distinguished career, Zayas-Bazan has received numerous awards in recognition of his professional achievements and has held noteworthy positions within many organizations dedicated to teaching Spanish. In addition to writing numerous articles in regional and national journals, he is the co-author, co-editor, and translator of seventeen books, including "Conexiones," an intermediate Spanish textbook published by Prentice Hall. Susan M. Bacon earned her Ph.D. in Foreign Language Education and Spanish Linguistics from The Ohio State University. She has taught at the University of Cincinnati since 1985 and is currently Professor of Spanish and Acting Director for the Institute for Global Studies and Affairs. She has been Project Director of a four-year grant from the National Endowment for the Humanities, and a Fulbright-Robles Scholar in Mexico. She has published extensively in the area of foreign language acquisition and methodology, particularly in the use of authentic listening and reading text. In addition to "Arriba!," she has co-authored "Conexiones" and "Leyendas del mundo hispano," Holly J. Nibert earned her Ph.D. in Spanish Linguistics from the University of Illinois at Urbana-Champaign in 2000. She has eighteen years of experience teaching Spanish language and linguistics at threedifferent institutions, including UIUC, Penn State University at University Park, and Western Michigan University (WMU) in Kalamazoo. Presently, she is Associate Professor of Spanish Linguistics and Director of the First-Year Spanish Language Program and TA Training at WMU. Nibert has published various articles on Spanish phonol-ogy and phonetics (on intonation in particular) and the use of technology in teaching Spanish.

About the Author Gunnar Staalesen made his debut at the age of 22 with Seasons of Innocence and in 1977 he published the first book in the Varg Veum series.  He is the author of more than 20 titles, which have been published in 24 countries and sold more than four million copies. Twelve film adaptations of his Varg Veum crime novels have appeared since 2007, starring the popular Norwegian actor Trond Epsen Seim. Staalesen, who has won three Golden Pistols (including the Prize of Honour), lives in Bergen where theire is is a life-sized statue of Varg Veum in the center of the city. Don Barlett has translated books by Jo Nesbo, Karl Ove Knausgaard, and Per Petterson.

3 of 3 people found the following review helpful. Unbelievably good! Best I've read in ages! By Big reader This is an extraordinary crime novel, and one of Gunnar Staalesen's later books. Only a handful have been translated into English, which is disappointing because I don't think I've read a crime novel of such distinction for a while. Hats off to the translator, Don Bartlett. The story starts with Varg Veum (which means Lone Wolf in Norwegian) sitting by the side of his fiancee's bed. She may be dying, and it may be his fault. We are then thrust back to the events that led up to this, and into a mystery that includes eco-warriors fighting their ground for wind turbines to be established on a particular island (and, it seems, a bit of corporate power behind them), those who oppose (who are suspicious as well) and then another mystery - a disappearance of man who might or not be involved. There is a scene here (which I am guessing the blurb refers to) that will blow your mind! This is a seriously good read, and a page-turner. At no point is there any suggestion that this is a 'translation'. Classic Nordic Noir. In fact, BRILLIANT!

By Postcard Reviews Varg. in Norwegian means Wolf.... and this book has bite.From the first chapter, it is riveting. Karin is lying in hospital. Her sister is missing and her family are beside themselves.Lea is also missing, presumed drowned. With bouts of depression and post-natal-depression it is thought that she committed suicide. Then a body turns up in the most horrific way, it really makes your head spin.Missing people, wind farms and murder make We Shall Inherit the Wind a spectacular read. It is a marvelous Norwegian translation and is vividly descriptive.We Shall Inherit the Wind has suspense, tragedy and the plot is one that I have not come across before. Eco-warriors, conflict and religion is the order of the day and the story goes at an accelerating pace, This magnetic, stimulating and completely immersive read makes it hard to put down.

Book Review: We Shall Inherit the Wind (Varg Veum #1) by Gunnar Staalesen By Marina Not so long time ago, I watched tv series that I really liked with the main character, Varg Veum. I had no idea that those series were made after book series. I recently bought a book from the Nordic noir section, and I was pleasantly surprised to find out that the main character was a private investigator named Varg Veum.I am a great fan of Scandinavian crime noir and shame on me, I haven't read anything from Gunnar Staalensen before. This is my first book from this author, but certainly won't be the last.On a small island in Norway, Mons Mæland has been reported missing. His second wife is an old friend of Veum's long-term girlfriend and she asks her for a favor. Veum is a private investigator who can do some investigation and find out what might have happened to the old man who spends a lot of time away from home and might not be missing at all. The life of Mons Mæland is surrounded with mystery. His first wife also is missing. She disappeared many years ago, she was claimed dead after a while, even if the body was never found. In the present, there is a fight for the windmills on the island between the father and the son in the Mæland family. Mons wanted them away while the son thought that windmills were the future of the island. Could his disappearance has something to do with the wind?There are not many people who live on the island. A small village full of ordinary people with ordinary problems. Gossips are definitely not lacking. Some people are too conservative, some are trying to escape from their ordinary life and live their dreams. Everything seems normal for a village full of fishermen, but under the surface, things are far from normal.Varg Veum is true crime noir character. His name means „lone wolf“, it definitely suits him. He starts the story while sitting in the hospital next to the woman he loves who's dying. Then he transfers the reader back to the time when it all started. He retells the things from his own point of view, to end the story back in the present, next to the bed of his loved one who is dying. He never uses weapon or violence, just his mind, a mind that never settles down even when things seem over. Because the detective inside knows when it's over. He hardly shows his feelings, he looks solid as a rock, but he suffers from inside. His sense for justice is stronger than anything else, he is unstoppable until he collects all the pieces in the puzzle.Gunnar Staalesen is a real storyteller and I'll be in search of his other books in the future. His storytelling is slow but contagious and very, very unpredictable. Once you start, you can not put the book down. Perfect read for fans of old-fashioned whodunit!

About the Author Abigail Samoun has edited books that received the CCBC Charlotte Zolotow award, SCBWI Golden Kite award, Pura Belpre Honor, Smithsonian Notable, and NYPL Ezra Jack Keats award. She also edited the middle-grade series Edgar & Ellen, which sold over a half million copies worldwide in 12 languages and inspired a cartoon series on Nickelodeon. In 2011, she cofounded Red Fox Literary, a children's book agency representing authors and illustrators, with agent extraordinaire Karen Grencik. Her novelty book What's in Your Purse?, illustrated by Nathalie Dion, was published in spring 2014 by Chronicle. Abigail lives in Sonoma, CA, with her husband and son. Sarah Watts went to Ringling College of Art and Design where she studied with many great instructors. She then worked at Carter's for two years, designing images and patterns for baby clothes, and then at International Greetings creating patterns for stationery, gift bags, and other giftables. Sarah then started a career as an independent illustrator, and her clients include Simon & Schuster, Houghton Mifflin Harcourt, Amazon Children's Publishing, Random House UK, and Penguin Books UK.
