Review "I am so glad I bought this book. This book teaches us to put materialism in a different perspective and adopt a new lifestyle which is the minimalist living. This book provides very relevant learning that I believe all readers will appreciate. A commendable book!" -- Thervin Rose "This book is wonderful! It is clear, concise and gets you really think about your lifestyle and choices. It's about getting rid of the excess so we can make room for new experiences and the things we truly love. The whole premise of this book is that having less stuff is the key to happiness." -- Samantha Fox "This book is simply life changing! By adopting a minimalist lifestyle you can throw out what you don't need in order to focus on what you do need." -- soowoo "Young's book has some excellent advice on how to live well through the prism of serving others with less focus on material things. Each of us needs to have worthy goals instead of purely financial goals. Overall, Young's book teaches us that our health, spirit and psychological well being are more important than merely accumulating things. The true measures of wealthy people are how much they conserve and how much they give to others-particularly the larger domain of the society." -- Dr. Joseph S. Maresca "Dr. Joseph S. Maresca CPA, CISA" "This book is a great and very helpful guide for all who are looking for minimalist living. It is not just a book, but its a guide that poses basic questions of human life. It also explores the meaning of relationships, separates your identity from your possessions, and help build your reputation. Highly recommended book." -- Amby Jones

By James Hufford one of the most difficult things to learn in this life is how tobe content with what we have. Let’s face it, we all would enjoy abetter job, a nicer car, a little bit more stuff and additionalconvenience.Ending materialism doesn’t mean forsaking all yourpossessions. Ridding yourself of everything you own would onlyprove you are still too preoccupied with possessions themselves.Someone who has developed a healthy inner world would seepossessions as neutral. This shift is more about attitude thanspecific actions.

I especially liked that the author talks about gratitude as a means to get rid of materialism, that being grateful for what we have will help us out. Also, the importance of good relationships is talked about, which is very important. I recommend this book!

Maresca Young's book has some excellent advice on how to live well through the prism of serving others with less focus on material things. Each of us needs to have worthy goals instead of purely financial goals.Right now, resource scarcity is becoming more prominent globally. The way to manage this scarcity is by wasting less and addressing basic needs first. Excess consumption should be taxed to minimize the depletion of precious natural resources. By mid-century, there could be 9 billion people or more on the planet. The consequence of that population growth will mean more conflict over fewer resources. And so, we need to conserve more rather than to splurge precious resources on crass ostentatiousness.Overall, Young's book teaches us that our health, spirit and psychological well being are more important than merely accumulating things. The true measures of wealthy people are how much they conserve and how much they give to others-particularly the larger domain of the society.
