Fear of Writing? Let's kick that writing phobia to the curb … right NOW!
Have you ever…- Heard a little voice inside your head, whispering that your writing sucked?
- Simply felt too terrified to write?
- Had the wind knocked out of your sails—had your writing critiqued by a “well-meaning” person—and decided that they were right and gave up?
- Read and read motivational books on how to start writing only to end up more fearful afterward?
- Compared yourself to “successful” writers and decided that you’d never measure up?
If so, congratulations! You’re a WRITER!
And I’ll tell you what no other motivational mushery book will tell you about your completely rational fear of writing—in the beginning…We all sucked when we first started writing.
I’ll let you in on a little secret. All those “successful” authors you wanna be just like? The “Stephen Kings” and the “Nora Roberts"… The list of writers who seem fearless for you to envy is endless. But you know what? When each of those authors started, the first sentence each one of them wrote … sucked. The only difference between them and you?Successful authors overcame their fear of writing!
I used to be a yearning-for-fame and scared-to-death wannabe writer. I’m assuming that if you’re reading the description of a book called Authorphobia, chances are high you’re looking for a little bit of inspiration and motivation like I was—you may be having more than a little hesitation about becoming a writer. But all the motivational “la la” books never spoke to my fearful writing soul … so I did what I always do—I wrote a book to fill that void. The best way to overcome your fear of writing?
Let me suggest that before you read another tired book that starts out with “FEAR is just False Expectations Appearing Real,” you embrace the one thing that will crush your writing phobia faster than anything I know—HUMOR.Learn to Laugh Your Fear of Writing in the Face
My goal with this book was to get down and dirty with your concerns and expose the naked truth of them—show them for what they are. Common, communicable if you’re not careful, controllable, and ultimately conquerable using the one thing that human beings have always relied on to survive dark scary nights in the forest of our irrational doubts. Nervous, naughty, sometimes a little nasty … sarcastic wit. This is not your grandma’s writing inspiration book.
At the publication of this book, there are at least a dozen “Author quote, ‘authorpreneur’, get over your fear, there-there Johnny or Sally, everything will be okay, hand-holding” books you could read that’ll have you convinced in no time that all this author stuff is easy-peasy lemon squeezy. This … is NOT one of those books. Are you ready for some writer fear-busting?
This book will:- Help you laugh at your anxiety surroundi the word “suck.”
- Introduce you to the “Goldberg the Goalie” technique for overcoming your writing “jitters.”
- Give you some of the best old-dead-author quotes you’ll ever read.
- Show you tons of “suck-busters” to help you start writing.
- Poke fun at just about every sacred cow of writing I could think of.
- And best of all—reveal my super-secret “fear of bad reviewers” cure-all. (hint: it involves chicken blood)

If you haven't read any of his books, and are serious about writing a book, then you have to start with this one. And then read the rest of them!First of he outlines what our fears are for writing a book. Then he dismantles them one by one. Another reviewer said he figuratively beating the fear out of us, but actually I think it's a bit more literal than that. After reading this, my fears shrunk and I was pumped to take on my next project.Great book from a great series...

By Chelsea This book made me laugh on the first page and I didn't stop until the last.Let me just say this-- it is not for the faint of heart. Windsor's clever play on words will keep you laughing all the way through the book while teaching you valuable writing tips and tricks. I really felt like I was getting "insider secrets" which will make my writing easier and reduce my stress level publishing my future books. As a "follower" of Winsdor's writing, I was VERY shocked to see what some might call "cheesy" quotes sprinkled in with his sense of humor. But to my surprise, I found them to really stick with me and encourage me in my daily writing. My favorite part about this book, however, was chapter 16 when Windsor reminds authors to not take writing so seriously. It is easy to forget that when we choose to be writers we are doing it because it is something we love. Windsor reminds readers that there are no rules with writing; just go where your mind takes you. I'll stop there before giving too much away.I absolutely loved reading this book. It was definitely one of the most enjoyable reads I've had recently.Even if you aren't an aspiring author, you should still buy this book simply because it is such a fun read! And I guarantee you will want you write a book when you're done reading this one!

It may get under your skin and burrow inside like a tic By Michael Wilkinson If you are not familiar with Steve Windsor's writing style, then this book may shock you. It may get under your skin and burrow inside like a tic. But frankly, this book is what I and a lot of other writers and would-be writers need. Steve writes up a swift kick to the gut with his in-your-face, straight-no-chaser style of motivation. His honesty is what drew me in. The fear that he faced (and perhaps still faces) as a writer is the same kind of fear that any writer experiences. Yet he motivates you to push through the fear of failure and rejection and keep moving forward--keep writing.Initially, his repeated use of the word "suck" may bother some people. But, he uses the word so many times that, eventually, you become immune to it. I believe that was his intention. So many people are afraid to write because they feel they will suck at it. But after reading this book, I doubt many people will care about sucking or being afraid to write.Steve is figuratively beating the fear of writing out of you. By the time I read his listing of 101 different phobias, I realized just how ridiculous my fear of writing was. I hope more people who dream of being a writer discover this book, because this is the kind of reality check they need to get themselves motivated. This is the book that will separate the wishers from the writers.
