Willett Just finished reading this Nabu Public Domain Reprint of the Second Edition (1900) of Bookwalter's original. For me, with my almost 80-year old eyes, this reprint with its large format/print was very easy to read. The book consist of a series of letters that Bookwalter, a wealthy Ohio Businessman, wrote during his fact finding trip through Siberia and Central Asia. Most of Bookwalter's predictions concerning the inevitable rise of Russian Power in Asia did not come to pass due to the Russian Revolution and the advent of Soviet Communism after WWI; however, Bookwalter does accurately predict Soviet Russia's interest in the areas of Persia (Iran), Armenia, Afghanistan, Manchuria and China. Lenin/Stalin followed the lead of the Tsars.
