This book goes through the pros and how to solve the cons of living in a rv, and gives lots of different ideas on what to buy to prepare yourself for your new way of life. I recommend this book for anyone that is looking into living off the grid, or wanting to travel across the country in an rv, because there are some good tips like how to winterize your rv etc. It is a different lifestyle, but it works for some people, and as long as you are happy, then that is what counts. Some minor editing issues with format but it didnt take away from the overall ideas and concepts of the book.

By Shawna Sparlin author of Your Child with Autism is Speaking Are You Listening Great how to book for deciding if the RV lifestyle is for you. The author gives lots of tips for picking out your RV, what to pack in the RV and how to keep your RV and you safe while traveling. I found the chapters on winterizing and cleaning the waste tank very helpful. If you are considering joining the RV life be sure to read this book first. She helps walk you through all of the decisions that you will need to make in order to decide if this is a good fit for you. By Harry Moore Nice quick reference, gets you started with the process and the language/jargon of patents. It is helping me to patent my latest trombone case designs. Uses flowcharts and example to make the basic process clear. I am using the 8th edition of May 2015. This has the latest info.

1 of 1 people found the following review helpful. Useful information - if you can endure digging it out By Chuck Stranahan This book, unfortunately, is written by a patent attorney. The language and syntax, ipso facto, too often tends toward that legal gobbledygook spoken in law offices with the blatant intent of deliberately obfuscating rather than enlightening the uninitiated, in pursuit of collecting legal fees from those who are thereby bamboozled and intimidated . (See, I know some big words and convoluted sentence structures too - but enough of that.) There is some good information in this book, but it must be ferreted out, rephrased, stripped of the multitudinous layers of disclaimers, exceptions, distentions and bloviations to be of any practical value. Plain nouns and verbs, written to the point, would have done better. It seems that the book was written with the the underlying purpose of discouraging the reader from finishing it - and instead, rushing to the yellow pages to look for a patent attorney. I'd like to see a quick and easy step-by-step, with a notion of what the patent office is looking for at each step, and keys as to where to go for further information. This book is both helpful and a headache - and I'm looking for another, but not by the same author.

2 of 2 people found the following review helpful. Not Irvine's best By bronx book nerd I found reading through this book somewhat tedious. It may not be the author's fault, however, as I have read many books on creativity and the creative process, and many of the points and examples were very familiar to me. What was different about this take on "Aha" moments is that Irvine included religious and moral epiphanies in his study. I have never read a book on insight or creativity that included these types of insights. Irvine discusses the religious revelations of Muhammad and Joseph Smith, for example, and how someone in their shoes responds to them, as well as the reactions of those with whom they share their revelations. Irvine also discusses "moral" aha moments, like the one experienced by Gandhi when he was thrown off a train in South Africa. In these instances, an individual's moral beliefs are challenged, and he or she needs to decide how to act from that point forward. Strangely, Irvine opens the discussion about moral revelations with an example of consensual adult incest. Later on he tells us that his views on this have now changed, without explicitly stating what side he was on to begin with and where he ended. The other major areas of aha moments he covers are in mathematics, science and the arts. For the first, the discoverer usually has the comfort of certainty when he or she solves a problem; it is not like science where almost no conclusion is ever final. In art, except for a few exceptions, aha moments are small and gradual, more like trial and error that eureka.Books on insight that do not reference Gary Klein's work are deficient as he studied closely and more scientifically the types and circumstances under which aha moments occur. One thing he established is that incubation is not as frequent or consistent as people think. If Irvine weer aware of that, he may not have written a chapter on it.Despite its small format the book is lengthy at over 300 pages. There was something in the writing style that I could not quite put my finger on that made it ponderous to go through, given the relatively simple subject matter. Irvine's other books were far more engaging.

Chojnacki In the world of K-12 education, which I inhabit, the topic of creativity is "du jour" and, as usual, there's much more heat (and snake oil) being generated than light. I found Irvine's "Aha!" to be a refreshing change to most of what's making the rounds. He has done his homework (12 pages of end notes and 11 pages of bibliography); and he reports his findings on the importance of insight in different fields/domains (e.g. religion, math, the arts, science, 'morality') in a way that is both engaging and informative. I've already gifted it to a number of friends. A fascinating read!

This translation feels like I am spending time with an old friend By Brittany Niequist The Proper Name Version of the King James Bible has changed the way I read and understand Scripture. To read and speak the actual name of Jesus with in a text I have been reading my whole life has brought me a new and fresh perspective. This translation feels like I am spending time with an old friend, and not just some "big guy in the sky" feeling that often comes along when reading the word "God." God can sometimes feel so big and far away. Yahweh and/or Yahshua feels like an old familiar friend, someone who is always right there, ready to listen and speak truth into my life. I never knew how often God's personal name is found throughout Scripture, but it's everywhere! Just another example of how much Yahweh loves us, and wants to have a personal relationship with us. One where we are on a first name basis - with the God of the UNIVERSE! That is pretty cool!

I like the "Hebraic Roots bible" because for law it uses the term Torah and for One it uses Echad, but the text is not as clean as the "proper name version of the King James Bible"This bible is easy to read and well laid out, compared to the cramped text of the "Yahuah bible". Its very crisp text and easy to read. The bible opens up nice and flat and the binding appears to be very good.Finally a perfectly restored Holy Name Bible one can read and enjoy!

The editors have updated only the words that are no longer used in modern English, such as, thee, thou, shalt, unto, and other similar words. This makes the reading of the King James Bible flow much easier. The cover is imitation leather and is very soft and pleasant to the touch, as well as being very flexible and able to lay flat on a table when open -- a plus when doing some serious bible study or for casual reading. The spine is glued, not stitched. The Publisher has informed me they are looking at producing a leather bound version with the stitched paging as opposed to the glued. For the price this is a good bible and well worth owning. The format is easy to read. A single column of print running down the right side of the page with a wide margin to the left where you find many references and plenty of room to add your own. The verse numbering is not buried within the text but runs on the outside to the left of the print making verse searching quick and easy. There is very little in the way of Acknowledgements and a very brief Preface to this publication. The focus is place on the Bible itself, however, more information about the history of this version would be appreciated, but in no way takes away from this wonderful work. They have kept away from trying to interpret the word GOD in the New Covenant, a mistake almost all other Holy Name Bible publishers make. The assumption that the word "God" should be translated as Yahweh is an error, a big error and the publishers of this version have avoided this error by retaining the common term "God" or in many cases, "God the Father", as opposed to "Yahweh the Father". They are assuming that YaHWeH is the Father of YaHshua but and argument can be made that this is not the case. YaHshua told us that He came to reveal the Father, whom no one had either seen or heard, this alone, by YaHshua's own words, would suggest the Father we learn about in the New Covenant is not the YaHWeH we read about in the Old Covenant. The suggestion is that YaHshua was the YaHWeH of the Old and THE Father had not been revealed until YaHshua/YaHweh came in the flesh. For more information on this go to [...] -- All of that aside, this version does avoid this mistake and leaves the term in place just as it is found in the Greek and Latin translations, parts and pieces and previous English translations from which the King James Bible originates. This version is a welcome addition and I personally love it. Worth the price, do yourself a favor and get one. Peace DanUpdate: The more I use this Bible the more I like it. The Name Publisher had hit the right mix for easy reading, bringing the focus on the Message of the Word without so much distraction and the restoration policy, when it comes to His Name, is perfect, in my view. Some in the Sacred Names and Hebrew Names Movements find offense in every work or name not Hebrew or Greek, focusing too much on words they say are of pagan origin, like, LORD, they say, means BAAL, a pagan god. If they read their own bibles they will discover that Israel used this term, once as a name, and then later as a definition to mean, Master, or lord, or boss and this downgraded this name from a name to a title. Of course they are offended and thus this translation is not for them and there are other translation works out there to fulfill their predjudices. This version, however, has found the right balance and I would encourage everyone, in or out of whatever movement to get a copy for their own library. Peace, Dan

I have long wondered if perhaps they themselves are Huguenot descendants. This book is a wealth of information, not only for those of us who are descended from western European Protestants, but for those who are interested in the history of the mid Atlantic states. It also details well the considerable loss of skilled tradesmen France suffered because of its paranoid persecution of its Protestant population. There is still one Huguenot congregation with a gorgeous church in Charleston, SC.

A 19th century book (not the published date in the Kindle Store) The pages scanned directly are so pale as to be indecipherable and those brought to text are jumbled beyond comprehension. Very disappointing Kindle!!

Cross your professional "finish line" By Christopher Hedges I had the opportunity to pick up Reaching the Finish Line when I met Kallen while I was in Austin. This isn't the normal type of book I would read, but the author has such an interesting background I thought it would be a good read. Reaching the Finish Line is a good tool for people that find themselves stuck in their current economic situation. The author offers numerous example and options for readers of all backgrounds to move forward in life. The book can be read as a traditional book or the reader can jump to pertinent chapters because each stands alone as its own teaching module. The author incorporates his personal life experience, statistical studies and sources of data to backup each of his teaching points. Kallen and I have a difference of opinion in some areas, but the facts he uses are sound and well researched. So if you feel stuck in this slow economy I recommend you pick up a copy of Reaching the Finish Line.

Diskworld has multiple parallel plot lines and side series, so an actual listening of the orders you could read each series would be useful, but this is not it.

8 of 8 people found the following review helpful. Terry Pratchett Discworld Reading Checklist By Brett A. Filczer This checklist does not even have all of the books in the DiscWorld Series. Considering it is now a finite list with other authors included, it is poor quality if you cannot get them all. I will give two examples, maybe the author can pick up a DiscWorld book and find the rest: "The Last Hero" and "The Shepherd's Crown", the LAST of the DiscWorld books. As it stands right now, a waste of .99 cents.

45 of 51 people found the following review helpful. A very odd book By lamia I wanted to like this book. The author and I share a lot of the same opinions. But this book is unreadable, inconsistent, and just odd. It needs a good editor, at a minimum.There are lots of examples. One that I'm interested in is fiber. I cured myself of lots of stuff by following a high fiber diet. There is a chapter devoted to that. Cool. The chapter starts with an anecdote about a colleague of his presenting a lecture showing pictures of "impressively large African" stools of about 2 lbs, compared to the European average of 4 ounces. Said Africans were apparently very healthy. I'm hooked - I'm familiar with this from my high fiber diet.But there's no follow-up. No analysis. Just a standard discussion of prebiotic fiber.Even worse, the tenor of the book is that many scientific studies are poor quality or are wrongly interpreted. Nothing new if you follow the news. Moreover, anecdotal evidence and advice from nutritionists are not to be trusted because they are not scientific. We can only trust scientific evidence (the same science that we could not previously trust?). Unfortunately, science has not adequately addressed whatever issue the author is discussing, so the author presents his advice as a conjecture. In a sense, the author is acting as an over-educated nutritionist, not as a scientist.Does this matter? In the case of fiber, the author argues that "it has been crudely estimated that a healthy person needs about 6 grams of prebiotics per day..." No reference. I've done a LOT of study of this issue, and I've never seen this number or anything close. I'm not giving a low ranking because he apparently believes this. There's just no documentation. There's no suggestion of how this has been crudely estimated. It's at odds with his prior and subsequent discussion about government recommendations (although I understand the distinctions between fiber and prebiotics). It is at odds with my personal experience, which is equally ranked with his personal opinion. But his personal opinion is in a book ostensibly presenting a "scientific" approach to diet.The whole book is like this. It's not just the fiber chapter. I cannot recommend this book.

I have done a lot of my own research whenever new diets come out and most of what this author discusses is information I have come across. The author condenses the information and pulls it all together to make it more understandable. I thoroughly enjoyed reading this book and found myself learning new things and understanding why most diets do not work; they are as individual as people-- what works for some, does not work for others.I have also been following the latest developments on the importance of our gut microbes and this book helps clarify, and put into perspective a new way of looking at ourselves, our nutrition requirements and our relationship to food.What I liked most about this book is the fact the author is straight-forward and admits that we do not have all of the answers. He is seeking the truth just like everyone else so he does not make any outlandish claims. He is a professor and most of his knowledge is from other studies and his own research with twins. The book even has references that he cites which I appreciate because I like to follow-up with information I find interesting.

19 of 22 people found the following review helpful. Myth of Science By Hande Z The basic point Spector makes is that we should not hurry to try out any fad diet. It pays to be a little sceptical, a little moderate, and eat a balance of all kinds of food. Food and vitamin supplements, Spector says, are of little benefits at best and might be harmful if one take the wrong kind or overdose on some. Even alcohol is not as bad as some might suggests. Spector himself thought about giving up alcohol - but only for a few seconds.He discusses the usual villains - sugar, fats and trans-fats and the heroic diets such as the Mediterranean diet but ends by reminding us that no one formula fits all. We are more individualistic in our compatibility with the food available than we think. That is because we have our own, individual colonies of microbes that attack and absorb the foods that we eat. It will thus be a very complicated and expensive project to find the right diet individually. Hence, we should relax and be less worried about what we eat; just don't overdo it.

About the Author

By Jacob Whalen Excellent, excellent presentation of one of the demonstrations for God's existence. This book comes at a critical time, when many have been taught that science and rational thought exclude the existence or even the possibility of God; the position has been cultivated so long that many seem to buy into it automatically. Dr. Augros treats of the subject masterfully, rendering the deductive argument into terms and examples that are readily accessible even to beginners in philosophy without sacrificing any of the rigor that the endeavor demands. He also exposes the fallacies of many (and I do mean 'many') objections of the "New Atheists" and others against the existence of God. If you have time for only one read on the question of God's existence and you're willing to give the case honest consideration, then this is the book to get.

22 of 25 people found the following review helpful. Highly worth the read By C. Norman If you're not into philosophical arguments, starting with chapter 6 might be a good idea. I'm not trained in philosophy, and the first 5 chapters were slow going for me, but still worthwhile. I'm going to have to read them again to really feel I understand them. The insights from later chapters, especially regarding the viewpoints of atheists and the mistakes we sometimes make in answering them, were very enlightening and helpful to me.

By Frederick Blonigen Ever since I saw the notice that Ignatius Press was going to publish Michael Augros' book "Who Designed the Designer?" I eagerly awaited my copy of the book and when I received it I read it immediately . What a feast for the mind! I remember telling an acquaintance after finishing the book," What a joy to read a philosophy book that demonstrates so beautifully the power of clear, logical thinking about the most important of all realities: God Himself. " As Mr.Augros indicates in the opening chapter of "Who Designed the Designer", he is not writing a polemical book. The spirit that animates this book, as the author says, is not attack or defense but wonder. Relying on the philosophical writings of Aristotle and Aquinas, the author leads the reader on a wonderful journey from ordinary human experience to the reality of God as the Uncaused Cause or Final Cause. While respectful of scientific reasoning and the empirical method , Mr. Augros uses a rigorous deductive method to demonstrate the existence of God. Along the way, the author enlivens his argument for God with humor and lovely anecdotes from his personal experience. I found especially memorable the insightful comments Mr.Augros makes about the beauty of the universe from the single rose to the billions of stars in countless galaxies in the heavens. After reading " Who Designed the Designer" I now understand why the eminent Catholic philosopher Peter Kreeft called it the single best book he had ever read on the existence of God. Mr.Augros deserves the highest praise for writing such an important book . The only comparable work , written by another talented Thomist , is Edward Feser's "The Last Superstition: A Refutation of the New Atheists".

There are tons of ways to have confidence during your interview. This book also highlights that in the interview process you can also ask questions and and you can take different approaches. After reading this book, I feel much more informed on this topic and I am confident that I will be able to do much better during any interviews I have in the future. If you're looking for a book that is short, effective and makes sense, you have to read this book, this will definitely help.

I know undergoing an interview can be a tiring process but this book makes it very simple, easy to understand. This book is actually divided into 3 parts which teaches you how to answer for the questions asked in each part. If we learn to answer them as how this book says, we sure are cracking the interview. This is a very useful guide that will hep a lot.

I loved how this book helps you to build the confidence to totally own a job interview. The book is very short but VERY indepth and filled with detailed information. The effective methods are not hard to understand and easy to implement. Highly recommend it if you're looking for a new job.
