2 of 2 people found the following review helpful. History comes alive By Maureen Barnes Although my grandparents emigrated from Ireland, they do not have an Irish surname. I have long wondered if perhaps they themselves are Huguenot descendants. This book is a wealth of information, not only for those of us who are descended from western European Protestants, but for those who are interested in the history of the mid Atlantic states. It also details well the considerable loss of skilled tradesmen France suffered because of its paranoid persecution of its Protestant population. There is still one Huguenot congregation with a gorgeous church in Charleston, SC.

A 19th century book (not the published date in the Kindle Store) The pages scanned directly are so pale as to be indecipherable and those brought to text are jumbled beyond comprehension. Very disappointing Kindle!!
