About the Author Thomas J. Noel is Professor of History and Director of Public History, Preservation, and Colorado Studies at University of Colorado Denver. He appears regularly on Denver’s Channel 9 (NBC) as “Dr. Colorado,” writes a Sunday Denver Post column, and is the author or coauthor of more than 40 books, including Colorado: A History of the Centennial State (coauthored with Carl Abbott and Steve Leonard) and Colorado: A Liquid History and Tavern Guide to the Highest State.Carol Zuber-Mallison is an award-winning freelance artist specializing in maps and informational graphics. For 14 years she was an editor and artist for the Fort Worth Star-Telegram and the Dallas Morning News. She also created maps and graphics for the Texas Almanac and Texas: A Historical Atlas.

His usual quality work.This book could be used as a text for total Colorado History presented as only Tom can do.Ingeniously organized

Jessen This is the type of book that will be a cornerstone for anyone interested in Colorado and its development as a state. Its maps and illustrations are simply excellent and a vast improvement over the earlier edition. The most important feature is its variety of information - something for anyone interested in the State. It also puts into focus some surprising facts such as Parkville, Summit County's first county seat when it stretched all the way to Utah and now a town long vanished. It does not try to wash over some of the dark events in the state such as the Sand Creek Massacre. Of great value is the map of early forts. I could go on, but this is certainly one of Colorado's most valuable historical sources.

By rangercurt I have bookshelves full of books about Colorado history that I have read over the past twelve years in support of my work as in interpreter of Colorado history. This month, as I prepare for my fourteenth season as an interpreter of Colorado history, Thomas J. Noel's "Colorado: A Historical Atlas" is providing me with an outstanding opportunity to put it all together in a updated and well organized format. I highly recommend this 'coffee table' quality book for folks that are interested in knowing a little bit about everything regarding Colorado history in an updated format.
